Delphian Yearbook 2023/2024

Highschool Yearbook
Fall 2023-Spring 2024

Creating A Lasting Impression

Before creating the style guide for the yearbook, I looked back on decades of yearbook themes and covers at our school to analyze what things worked in the past and which needed to be improved on. One of the major concerns within the older yearbooks was that the themes or aesthetics aged poorly, feeling very stuck in the time they were made. Another common theme was that being a school made up of 25% arts program and having a team of designers mainly from the visual arts program meant that students not in the program didn’t feel the theme or cover of the yearbook properly represented them and grew disfavourable to the yearbook committee. Knowing this, I approached the style guide with a simple but clean aesthetic that would make the yearbook feel timeless and accessible to the entire student body.

An Accessible Styleguide

Being a part of the Delphian Yearbook was the most defining part of my high school experienceThe 2023-2024 Yearbook: Yesterday is one of the largest and proudest projects that I’ve been a part of. Creating the styleguide and working alongside an incredible team of designers, photographers, and journalists to document the year for a population of 2000 students in a book that will be looked back on decades in the future felt like the biggest honour.

The Best Team Ever

Working on a year-long project can be stressful, but having the best team to work alongside made the experience much more plausible and fun. Some of the most cherished memories I have in high school are with this team, and I couldn’t express more how thankful I am to have worked alongside such a talented and friendly team of executives. From running around the school to take photos with Linc, decorating the yearbook office, or having funny moments during our “Mike Days”, this is the most fun I’ve ever had working on a team.
